CHRO HR Employee Relations Support
Whether it comes to imposing discipline, awarding promotions or conducting layoffs, each of our clients has a unique legal landscape to navigate depending on local, state and federal labor laws applicable to your corporate location, remote employees’ location, or your employee’s area of residence. CHRO services include a comprehensive assessment of applicable labor laws to your workforce so you can minimize the risk of frivolous lawsuit payouts for wrongful termination or other adverse employment actions.
Laws Protecting Disabled Employees
Employers with 15+ employees (and some employers with as few as one employee) are required to provide reasonable accommodations for disabled employees to obtain or maintain employment. Ensuring ADA compliance without compromising business operations is often a complex process but ignoring accommodations requests or simply discriminating against disabled employees is a risky strategy that can result in costly attorney fees, fines, awards or settlements. CHRO can help you ensure compliance when applicable, and protect you in cases of accommodations denials. Read more about disability rights laws here>>

CHRO Investigations and Employee Complaint Response and Support
When you receive a serious employee complaint such as one against key senior personnel, or alleging widespread wrongdoing, it can be difficult to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation. CHRO personnel are experienced in conducting objective investigations, and providing clients with comprehensive investigation reports that make definitive findings that are consistent with applicable labor laws. In addition, our investigation reports often highlight preventative measures you can implement to minimize the risk of future complaints, or to streamline future investigations. Investigations can be conducted remotely to reduce costs, without compromising investigation quality. Contact us today to see how we can support you through this process.
Affordable Care Act Compliance & Capitalizing on Small Business incentives under the ACA
Applicable large employers are required to offer 95% of their eligible employees (and dependents) affordable healthcare coverage that provides minimum value within their first 90 days of employment or eligibility or risk having to make sometimes sizeable shared responsibility payments if one or more employees purchases insurance coverage on the healthcare marketplace. However the rules surrounding employee eligibility can be particularly complex, especially for employers with several different classes of employees.
The ACA also provides tax credits allowing smaller employers to reap the rewards of providing healthcare coverage to their employees even if not required to do so. Taking advantage of these tax credits gives small employers an important tool to attract and retain talented employees. Learn more here>>

FMLA and Applicable State Leave Mandates Compliance
Most Employers with 50+ employees are required to provide 12 weeks of unpaid leave to eligible employees for serious medical conditions, and pregnancy or welcoming a new adopted or foster child into the family. These employers are also required to provide eligible employees with up to 26 weeks of leave for military exigencies. Some states and localities also require FMLA-type leave for employers with fewer employees. Tracking this leave, especially when provided intermittently, can be labor intensive and confusing. Further, intermittent leave can be abused by employees for non-eligible reasons such as for hangovers, or as vacation extension measures. However, employers have certain rights they can exercise to minimize operational disruptions and ensure that employees taking leave are in fact eligible for it. Learn more about what the FMLA requires from affected employers here>>
